Cattin rallies for 3rd in Tampa’s Pasco Stakes

Cattin followed up his victory in the Inaugural Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs with a third-place finish yesterday in the Pasco Stakes at seven furlongs. The 3-year-old Neolithic colt is now 2-0-2 in five starts, including a third-place in the In Reality and a fourth in the Affirmed at Gulfstream Park.

Samy Camacho settled Cattin into fourth place down the backstretch, but the colt was four wide, and that took some of the starch out of him on the turn. He didn’t kick in until late in the stretch, getting up for third but never a threat to the top two. With the strange FTBOA distribution of the $125,000 purse, Cattin’s share was just $5,000, raising his total to $169,550.
