Treasure Beach’s biggest money-winner added to her resume Thursday with a heart-stopping score at Aqueduct for owner/breeder Patricia Generazio.
Saratoga Treasure came from well back in the pack under Jose Ortiz to get up by a nose at the wire in a $75,000 allowance race contested at six furlongs over the outer turf course. The 4-year-old filly earned $44,344, boosting her lifetime total to $236,696 on a record of 4-2-3 in 15 starts. She paid $6.50 as favorite after completing the course in 1:09.44, and has now won at all three NYRA tracks – Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga.
In the next race, Le Coste finished second by one-half length in a $50,000 maiden claimer for 2-year-olds at one mile on the grass and collected $9,200.
After passing the $1.8 million mark in 2019 progeny earnings earlier in the week, Treasure Beach has quickly soared to $1,868,080 as he heads toward his first $2 million season with just three crops at the races.
