Leinster’s Monster finishes 2nd in Skidmore Stakes at the Spa

Leinster added a stakes-placed runner to his first crop when Monster led most of the way after setting a blistering pace in the $150,000 Skidmore Stakes at Saratoga, then giving way late to finish second by 1 3/4 lengths.

With Luis Saez aboard, the 2-year-old colt bred by Dr. Ross Russell and Deeann Smith Cavanaugh rocketed past the markers in :21.85, :44.54 and :56.36 and held on for the runner-up spot after 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf in 1:02.75. Spirit of New York, the 9/10 favorite, finished another three lengths back in third.

In his fourth start, the $25,000 OBS Winter Mixed purchase earned a check of $30,000 for Arindel, jumping his total to $84,751.
