Stallion Synopsis – Leinster

Four-time graded stakes winner Leinster demonstrated blazing speed setting course records for 5½ furlongs at Saratoga and Keeneland, stamping himself as perhaps the fastest representative of the A.P. Indy sire line at stud today. Leinster is by Majestic Warrior – juvenile grade one winner and grade one sire son of A.P. Indy – out of Vassar, also dam of Champion and two-time Breeders’ Cup Sprinter Stormy Liberal, from a prolific champion producing family.

Majestic Warrior sired Kentucky Oaks (G1) and CCA Oaks (G1) heroine, Princess of Sylmar, out of a mare by Catienus, a son of Storm Cat, and that strain is particularly interesting here, as Leinster is half-brother to an Eclipse Award Champion by a son of Storm Cat, and out of a mare by that horse’s very close relative, Royal Academy. Majestic Warrior also has graded stakes winners Heavenhasmynikki out of a mare by Forest Wildcat (sire of Wildcat Heir), stakes winner Pinson out of a mare by Giant’s Causeway (sire of First Samurai, Eskendereya, Creative Cause, Not This Time and Carpe Diem) and there is also another stakes winner on this cross out of a mare by Lion Hearted. Other Storm Cat line stallions that appear as broodmare sires of A.P. Indy stakes winners include Bernstein; Bluegrass Cat (giving inbreeding to A.P. Indy); Catienus; Forestry (and his son, Discreet Cat, with Forestry also being sire of Shackleford); Freud, a brother to Giant’s Causeway; Harlan and his sons Menifee and Harlan’s Holiday (sire of Into Mischief, Shanghai Bobby and Majesticperfection); Tale of the Cat and his son Lion Heart (sire of Kantharos); Hennessy and his sons Johannesburg (sire of Scat Daddy) and Cactus Ridge, with Henny Hughes providing another source; and Storm Boot and Tabasco Cat.

Storm Cat is a Northern Dancer line stallion, and from the Danzig branch of Northern Dancer, Majestic Warrior has multiple grade two winner Lone Rock out of a mare by Hard Spun, and a two-year-old stakes winner out of a mare by Belong to Me, with War Front being another from this line that appeals. Majestic Warrior grade two winner, Lady Sabelia, is out of a mare by Citidancer, a son of the Northern Dancer horse, Dixieland Band, also sire of Dixie Union, who is himself represented by Union Rags.

Majestic Warrior stakes winner, The Money Monster, is out of a mare by Awesome Again (sire of Ghostzapper, Toccet, Paynter, Oxbow and Awesome of Course), by the Northern Dancer grandson, Deputy Minister. A.P. Indy has enjoyed tremendous success with the Deputy Minister in general, also including through the Dehere, his son Graeme Hall and brother Dehere; and Touch Gold and French Deputy.

Majestic Warrior has a pair of stakes winners out of mares by Theatrical, a son of Nureyev. Theatrical is sire of Noactor, and other possibilities include Fasliyev (broodmare sire of an A.P. Indy line graded winner) Atticus, Unusual Heat and Spinning World. Nureyev is a three-quarters brother to Sadler’s Wells, and the cross of A.P. Indy line stallions out of Sadler’s Wells has done well with a grade one winner out of a mare El Prado, a grade one winner out of mare by that horse’s son, Medaglia d’Oro (sire of Warrior’s Reward and Violence), and two stakes winners out of mares by El Prado son, Kitten’s Joy (also suggesting Artie Schiller). We can also note stakes winners out of mares by Sadler’s Wells line stallions Horse Chestnut, Galileo (sire of Magician and Cape Blanco), Sligo Bay and King of Kings.

From the Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector, Majestic Warrior has a stakes winner out of a mare by Empire Maker (sire of Pioneerof the Nile and Bodemeister, and grandsire of Cairo Prince and American Pharoah). Empire Maker is by Unbridled, and there are several other branches of that line that could be tried here. Unbridled’s Song has several sons who have appeared as broodmare sires of A.P. Indy line stakes winners, including First Defence (giving inbreeding to Seattle Slew), Eurosilver, Old Fashioned, Even The Score and Songandaprayer,and other Unbridled’s Song line horses include Arrogate, Liam’s Map, Buddha and Half Ours (out of mares by Storm Cat, who will be good here), Dunkirk (giving inbreeding to A.P. Indy), Midshipman (giving inbreeding to Seattle Slew), Rockport Harbor and Zensational.  There are also A.P. Indy line stakes winners out of mares by Unbridled line stallions Broken Vow (broodmare sire of a Majestic Warrior stakes winner), Grindstone (sire of Birdstone) and Sarlaand. Other branches of Fappiano to enjoy success under A.P. Indy include Quiet America (grandsire of Midnight Lute), Rubiano (sire of Too Much Bling and Burning Roma) and Cryptoclearance, who can be found through Candy Ride, broodmare sire of an A.P. Indy line grade one winner and himself sire of Twirling Candy and Gun Runner).

Majestic Warrior has sired graded stakes winners Best Warrior and Lone Sailor out of mares by Mr. Greeley (sire of El Corredor, Belgravia and Horse Greeley) from the Gone West branch of Mr. Prospector. From other branches of Gone West, there are A.P. Indy line grade one winners out of mares by Elusive Quality (sire of Quality Road, Smarty Jones and Great Notion)and Grand Slam (sire of Limehouse, Strong Hope and Fire Slam) and a stakes winner out of a mare by Speightstown (sire of Munnings). Other sons of Gone West to have stood in Florida include Dance Master, Bahamian Squall and Double Honor. From the Kingmambo branch of Mr. Prospector, Majestic Warrior has a graded stakes winner out of a mare by King Kamehameha, suggesting daughters of Lemon Drop Kid (who gives inbreeding to A.P. Indy and a three-quarters sister). There is also a stakes winner out of a mare by Not For Love, a three-quarters brother to Woodman.

Majestic Warrior has been very successful with mares from the Halo line. He has graded stakes winners Promised Warrior and Sunrise Hope out of mares by sons of Sunday Silence, who was represented in North America by Hat Trick; a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Saint Ballado (sire of Saint Liam, Yankee Victor, Captain Bodgit, Sweetsouthernsaint and Straight Man); and a stakes winner out of a mare by More Than Ready (sire of Verrazano, Ready’s Image and Daredevil, the sire of a stakes winner out of a Majestic Warrior mare).

Majestic Warrior also has a grade two winner out of a mare by Pleasant Tap and a stakes winner out of a mare by Officer, who is by Bertrando, a son of Skywalker, from the Relaunch branch of In Reality, that can also be brought in through Tiznow (sire of Tiz Wonderful, Gemologist and Colonel John)and Put It Back.
