One winner, one stakes-placed for Neolithic on BC weekend

Neolithic celebrated the Breeders’ Cup weekend with one winner and one near stakes-winner, and is now on the verge of surpassing $2.9 million in 2026 progeny earnings.

GAMAY – The 4-year-old filly bred by Belinda Kitos at SCF Inc. was sent off at 9-1 in a 7-furlong turf race at Moutaineer Park, despite the fact that in her previous race she came from dead last going one mile on the main track and scored by a widening 10 1/4 lengths. With Luis Tapala aboard again, she trailed down the backstretch on the inside, made a wide run into the stretch and went on to score by half a length, clocked in 1:24.56.

Gamay paid a surprising $20.60 and earned a check for $6,960 while raising her record to 2-2-2 in 10 starts.

BAYOU BRIGID – Off at odds of 9-1, the 3-year-old filly bred by Joe and Helen Barbazon lacked racing room along the inside for much of the 1 1/16-mile, $75,000 Cellars Shiraz Stakes at Gulfstream Park. Under a stranglehold by Leonel Reyes down the backstretch, she finally found a hole to slip through in the stretch and was closing fastest of all late, only to fall short by half a length. The race went in 1:40.94.

The $20,000 OBS April 2-year-old collected $14,250 for second and raised her earnings to $211,175 on a record of 3-3-3 in14 starts.

Neolithic’s 2026 progeny earnings stand at $2,896,462.
