Zaddy wins at Mountaineer with flying finish

Zaddy turned in perhaps his best performance in three seasons, coming from out of the clouds to win going six furlongs at Mountaineer Park.

Leaving from the 9 post with Norberto Arroyo Jr., the 4-year-old Neolithic gelding bred by Paradisus Acres Thoroughbreds was off slowly and was three wide down the backstretch. He began a strong run coming to the turn, fanned five wide into the stretch and closed with authority, winning by a neck in 1:13.53. The $20,000 OBS October yearling was coming off a second-place finish yet still paid $15.80, collected $5,220 and raised his record to 5-6-2 in 32 starts, with earnings of $60,037.
