“Gone Astray is a multiple graded stakes winning millionaire by Dixie Union out of a Mr. Prospector daughter of Champion Inside Information. He’s lived up to his pedigree as a grade one sire with 11 stakes winners to his name.”

Gone Astray is sire of grade one winner Gaivina out of a mare by Put It Back (sire of Bal A Bali and In Summation), and the four-time stakes winner Starship Bonita, out of a mare by that horse’s sire, Honour and Glory. Honour and Glory is by Relaunch, who could also be introduced through Bertrando (sire of Officer and grandsire of Boys At Tosconova) and Tiznow (sire of Colonel John, Gemologist, Morning Line, Slew’s Tiznow, Strong Mandate, Tiz Wonderful and Tourist).  This is a branch of In Reality, a sire line that could also be brought in through Valid Appeal, sire of Successful Appeal (himself sire of Closing Argument), Valid Wager and Valid Expectations.

Gone Astray’s graded winner Three Rules is out of a mare by Full Mandate a son of A.P. Indy bred on the same cross as Friesen Fire (sire of Army Mule). This also suggests mares by Bernardini (sire of Stay Thirsty and To Honor and Serve), Pulpit (broodmare sire of two Dixie Union line stakes winners), Mineshaft (broodmare sire of four Dixie Union line stakes winners and sire of Dialed In and Discreetly Mine), Malibu Moon, Congrats, Flatter, Jump Start, Golden Missile, Old Trieste (broodmare sire of a Dixie Union line stakes winner) and Stephen Got Even (sire of First Dude). We can note that Pulpit is sire of Sky Mesa, Stroll, American Freedom, Lucky Pulpit (sire of California Chrome), Mr. Speaker, Sightseeing and Tapit (himself sire of Constitution, Frosted, Tapizar, Tonalist, Tapiture, Cupid, Concord Point and Trappe Shot).

Gone Astray has graded stakes winner Shifty She out of a mare by Strong Hope, a son of Grand Slam, and a grandson of Gone West, and there is also a Dixie Union line stakes winner out of a mare by Gone West line stallion Mr. Greeley (sire of El Corredor and Whywhywhy) and Gone West could also be brought in throughSpeightstown (sire of Munnings and Central Banker), Elusive Quality (sire of Quality Road, Smarty Jones, Great Notion, Omega Code and Exclusive Quality) and Proud Citizen. Other sons of Gone West to have stood in Florida include Dance Master, Bahamian Squall and Double Honor. Gone Astray has five-time stakes winner Noble Drama out of a mare by Burning Roma and stakes winner Bullet Gone Astray out of a mare by Red Bullet, both from the Fappiano branch of Mr. Prospector. Burning Roma is by Rubiano, also sire of Too Much Bling. Red Bullet is by Unbridled, and is bred on the same cross as Unbridled’s Song, sire of Songandaprayer (broodmare sire of a Dixie Union line stakes winner), Political Force, Liam’s Map, Arrogate, Mission Impazible, Midshipman, Rockport Harbor, Cross Traffic, Dunkirk, Graydar, Half Ours (broodmare sire of a Dixie Union line stakes winner), Old Fashioned, Will Take Charge and Noonmark. Spanish Steps is a brother to Unbridled’s Song.

Unbridled is also sire of Empire Maker (sire of Pioneerof the Nile and Bodemeister, and grandsire of American Pharoah, Cairo Prince and Classic Empire), Broken Vow, and there are also Into Mischief line stakes winners out of mares by Unbridled sons Saarland and It would also be worth considering mares by Grindstone and his son Birdstone.
