“A graded stakes winner, the talented and versatile Verifying also earned second in grade one events at seven, eight and nine furlongs. By Triple Crown winner Justify, now the most exciting young sire in the world, Verifying is half-brother to Eclipse Award winning Champion, Midnight Bisou.”

With his first runners only three-year-olds of 2023, Justify has already sire a remarkable 25 stakes winners. He has quickly demonstrated a strong affinity for mares from the Mr. Prospector line. Out of a mare by Street Cry, from the Machiavellian branch of that line comes Champion Two-Year-Old Filly elect Just FYI, suggesting daughters of Street Sense and Street Boss. The Gone West branch is already working well, this cross supplying grade one winner Hard to Justify, who is out of a mare by Quality Road, a son of Elusive Quality. In addition, Justify also has the brilliant Ramatuelle out of a mare by Elusive Quality son, Raven’s Pass, with Elusive Quality also represented by Smarty Jones, Great Notion, Omega Code and Exclusive Quality. Justify also has a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Proud Citizen, and Justify’s sire, Scat Daddy, has a graded winner out of a mare by Grand Slam. It would also work well to introduce Gone West through Speightstown (sire of Munnings and Central Banker) and Mr. Greeley, sire of Whywhywhy and El Corredor. We can also note numerous grade one winners by Scat Daddy out of mares by Gone West son, Seeker’s Gold, in South America.

Justifying’s grade one winning sprint son, Arabian Lion, is out of a mare by Distorted Humor, from the Forty Niner branch of Mr. Prospector. Distorted Humor is sire of Flower Alley, Sharp Humor, Drosselmeyer, Maclean’s Music, Jimmy Creed, Alternation, Boisterous, Cowtown Cat, Brethren and Khozan. There are also Scat Daddy stakes winners out of mares by Forty Niner line stallions, Editor’s Note, Jules (sire of Peace Rules) and End Sweep (sire of Trippi). We can also note a Scat Daddy graded stakes winner out of a mare by Fusaichi Pegasus (bred very similarly to Distorted Humor, and sire of Roman Ruler and Bandini). Scat Daddy has millionaire Handsome Mike out of a mare by Smart Strike and a graded winner out of a mare by that horse’s son, Curlin. Smart Strike could also be brought in through Lookin at Lucky and English Channel and Curlin is sire of Palace Malice, Exaggerator, Good Magic and Connect.  From other branches of Mr. Prospector, Scat Daddy has three stakes winners, one graded, out of mares by Lemon Drop Kid; a graded stakes winner out of a mare by Not For Love, and a stakes winner out of a mare by that horse’s three-quarters brother Woodman; and a stakes winner out of a mare by Smoke Glacken.

Scat Daddy is by Johannesburg, who is something a reverse cross to Mr. Prospector line stallion , Fappiano. From the Cryptoclearance branch of that line, there is a Justify stakes winner out of a mare by Candy Ride (sire of Twirling Candy, Gun Runner and Sidney’s Candy) and a Scat Daddy stakes winner out of a mare by Rubiano (sire of Burning Roma and Too Much Bling).

Johannesburg and Scat Daddy have also enjoyed success over the Unbridled branch of Fappiano, particularly through Unbridled’s Song. There is a grade one winner by Johannesburg out of a mare by Unbridled’s Song, and from mares by sons of Unbridled’s Song, there is a grade one winner out of a mare by Buddha, graded stakes winners out of mares by First Defence, Rockport Harbor and Songandaprayer, with other sons of Unbridled’s Song including Liam’s Map, Mission Impazible, Midshipman, Cross Traffic, Dunkirk, Graydar, Half Ours, Old Fashioned, Will Take Charge and Noonmark.

There is also a Scat Daddy graded stakes winner out of a mare by Empire Maker (sire of Pioneerof the Nile and Bodemeister, and grandsire of American Pharoah, Cairo Prince and Classic Empire), and stakes winners out of mares by Birdstone and Broken Vow.

Moving to the Northern Dancer line Justify has European Champion Two-Year-Old City of Troy and two other graded stakes winners out of mares by Galileo, and Champion Two-Year-old Opera Singer out of a mare by Galileo’s sire, Sadler’s Wells. In the U.S. Galileo has been represented by Capo Blanco, Magician and Noble Mission. It would also be possible to introduce Sadler’s Wells through El Prado (sire of Medaglia d’Oro, Kitten’s Joy and Artie Schiller, and grandsire of Warrior’s Reward and Bolt d’Oro).

Nureyev is a three-quarters brother to Sadler’s Wells, and Justify has a stakes winner out of a mare by Nureyev grandson, Pivotal, while other Nureyev sourcesinclude Fasliyev, Spinning World, Theatrical, Unusual Heat and Atticus. Justify has already been very successful with mares from the Danehill branch of Danzig, getting five stakes winners, three graded, all out of mares by Fastnet Rock or Danehill Dancer. In the U.S., Danzig could be brought in through Hard Spun (broodmare sire of a Scat Daddy line grade one winner), Orpen (a close relative to Danehill and himself broodmare sire of two Scat Daddy line grade one winners), Boundary (sire of Big Brown), War Front (broodmare sire of a Scat Daddy line graded winner, Declaration of War, The Factor, Summer Front, Hit it a Bomb and Soldat – himself broodmare sire of a Scat Daddy line stakes winner), Belong to Me (broodmare sire of a Scat Daddy line graded stakes winner), War Chant (broodmare sire of a Scat Daddy line graded stakes winner) and Exchange Rate.

Out of A.P. Indy line mares, Justify has graded stakes winner Champions Dream out of a mare by Tapit and two stakes winners out of mares by the similarly-bred Bernardini. Tapit is sire of Constitution, Cupid, Frosted,Tapizar, Tonalist, Tapiture and Trappe Shot, and Bernardini is sire of To Honor and Serve and Stay Thirsty.
